This is a Blog site created by Bob Reed (in Florida) for folks who live--or used to live--in Marcus, Iowa. Its purpose is to exchange notes, news, remembrances, and thoughts about life in and about Marcus, or news about one's family, friends or acquaintances.
I am interested in hearing about local Marcus men, or women for that matter, that served in WWII. Does anyone have any stories to share about their father, grandfather, etc. that served during that time? For instance I never knew Roger Leavitt was in the Battle of the Bulge until recently. I know my Uncle Cecil Dorr was involved with the landing at Anzio Beach in Italy but that's about all I know. Would love to see others post their stories online.
Looking forward to visiting Marcus for the 1964 class reunion. My deceased husband, David E Joslin, was in the graduating class. He passed away on November 22, 1981 in Newport, RI. For additional information, in Google, type in his name.
While in the Navy in 1965 and 1966, I had a pen pal from Marcus, Iowa. I met her on a telephone call to my friends house in Placentia, CA. I started talking to the girtl on the phone and never met her. I can't remember her name but she was about 16 or 17 at the time. Any ideas anyone?
